Witness testifies that second accused bought drum from him

KUALA LUMPU R : A witness in the murder trial of deputy public prosecutor Datuk Anthony Kevin Morais testi f ied that the second accused bought a drum from him in 2015.

Lim Khai Meng, 63, a lorry dealer said G Gunasekaran paid RM20 for the drum after telling him that he wanted to use it for the disposal of rubbish.

“There was no bargaining. He mentioned RM20 so I sold it to him,” he said during the examination-in- chief by deputy public prosecutor Wan Shaharuddin Wan Ladin.

On Sept 20, a police officer testified about the recovery of a cemented drum with a sack containing Kevin Morais’ body in a swamp at Subang Jaya on Sept 16, 2015.

Lim, who is the 53rd witness in the trial yesterday which entered its 35th day, is also the owner of a lorry service centre and has a business in processing and selling used engine oil.

He told the court that the drum bought by the second accused was used to keep leftover engine oil at his shop and that it was the first time since starting his business five years ago, that he had sold a drum to an individual.

Lim said he kept about four to five drums in his shop, which would be sold to a scrap metal yard if they become rusty.

“At first, he (second accused) asked me whether I wanted to sell, but I said I didn’t, but after he persuaded me saying he wanted it as a rubbish bin, I relented,” the witness said.

He said the second accused came with another man but he could not recall the latter’s face.

Lim said the two men then carried the slightly rusty chocolate coloured drum into “a black Mitsubishi vehicle that looked like a four-wheeldrive”.

To Wan Shaharuddin’s question as to the size of the drum and whether it could fit a human body, Lim replied: “That, I am not sure as the drum is deep, about 20 0 litres.

“I think I can fit in but if I am standing in it, my whole body would not show.”

Six men - Gunasekaran, 48; R Dinishwaran, 24; A K Thinesh Kumar, 23; M Vishwanath, 26; S Nimalan, 23; and Ravi Chandaran, 45, stand accused of murdering Kevin Morais, between 7am and 8pm on Sept 4, 2015, between Jalan Dutamas Raya Sentul and No 1 Jalan USJ1/6D, Subang Jaya.

First accused Dr Kunaseegaran, 53, faces a charge of abetting the six men in Kevin Morais’ murder, at the same place, date and time.

The trial presided by justice Datuk Azman Abdul lah continues today. — Bernama
