Advertisement on sale of 2,000-hectare land in Lenggong not correct – MB

-

IPOH: The public have been urged not to be duped by an advertisement on an advertising portal on the sale of a 2,023 ha land in Lenggong, about 80km from here.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir said the land belonged to the Perak State Agricultural Development Corporation Group ( PPPNP) which had purchased it from Majuperak Holdings Bhd for developing an oil palm plantation.

He said the irresponsible advertisement offered a sale price of RM60 million for the land.

“I believe it was done by a syndicate, and PPNP had lodged a police report ( Dec 6) and we hope the police can investigate those behind it.

“We also ask the police to investigate the website which issued the advertisement on the auction ( of the land),” he told reporters after a meeting of the PPPNP Board of Directors here yesterday.

A Bernama check at the portal found the advertisements, which was first uploaded on the portal on Nov 28, was still there until yesterday.

The advertisement quoted that the land, which had a 94-year lease, was up for sale at RM12,000 per acre ( 0.40 ha).

Commenting further, Zambry said the advertisement showed that certain parties were prepared to use numerous means to pull wool over the people’s eyes and tarnish the image of the government.

“For example, they illegally open up government land, divide them into several hectares each and sell them by the lot. This gives the impression there is no law in Perak, anybody can open up and sell land,” he said.

On the meeting yesterday, Zambry said the PPPNP Group targeted an income of RM331.45 million next year with palm oil being the main contributor.

“The net profit is targeted at RM26.64 million,” he said. — Bernama
