PT3 results: No official announcement of details
KUALA LUMPUR: The results of the Form Three Assessment (PT3) were announced throughout the country yesterday.
A total of 432,514 candidates who sat for the examination this year received their results at their own schools.
However, unlike previous years, there was no official announcement of the details of the results, such as the percentage of students who obtained excellent results, a comparison of the states, a comparison between urban and rural schools as well as a comparison of the best schools.
This is because the PT3 results form a component of the SchoolBased Assessment (SBA) system.
According to the Malaysian Examination Board ( MEB), the PT3 results formed part of the Centralised Assessment, while the other components were School Assessment, Physical Activity, Sports and Cocurricular Assessment ( PAJSK) and Psychometric Assessment ( PPsi).
The School Assessment involves continuous academic evaluation by teachers during the learning process in the classroom from Form 1 to 3, in which teachers have to send the performance report to the MEB every year.
The involvement of students in associations and sports is evaluated in the PAJSK, identifying their leadership and communication skills within the organisation.
The PPsi would be handled by counselling teachers who set a special test for students to identify their talents and inclinations towards special interests.
All the components are important elements for the schools to help students determine their choice of either the Science or Arts stream when entering Form Four, MEB’s Development and Policy Management Sector head, Dr Rahimah Adam told Bernama on Sunday.
Rahimah said PT3 was just one of the elements in SBA and was not meant to replace the Penilaian Menengah Rendah ( PMR).
“At the end of Form 3, students will receive a School Assessment report, Psychometric Assessment report, PAJSK report and PT3 report,” she said. — Bernama
