Eight-course CNY reunion dinner available at Joy I Palace

-

KUCHING: Joy I Palace Sdn Bhd (Joy I) located near to the Petanak market will offer several packages of eight-course Chinese New Year reunion dinners ranging between RM498 to RM1,388.

Both families and companies alike are encouraged to reach out to Joy I to enquire about their availability and specifics of their packages this Chinese New Year season.

For smaller families, the privacy of Joy I’s VIP rooms may be appealing as it gives an opportunity for family members to reunite and catch up among themselves in a private setting.

Larger families or companies looking to conduct annual dinners, who would also like a private setting, can rest easy knowing that Joy I’s VIP rooms can be combined to fit a total of eight tables or 80 pax.

Meanwhile, customers can opt to have their dinners upstairs in Joy I’s sprawling restaurant space which has a capacity of 52 tables or 520 pax. Light entertainment will be provided for customers dinning upstairs which includes hired singers, and group festivities such as lucky draws and knowledge quizzes.

All packages offered are available either at lunch during 11am to 1:30pm or at dinner during 7pm to 10pm, with the exception of the RM498 package which is only available during lunch hours.

Among the packages offered, the most recommended by Joy I is its RM688 package which includes eight appetisers and main courses, along with an added traditional Chinese dessert of red bean soup with glutinous rice balls, personally handmade and brewed by Joy I’s head chef.

The eight appetizers and main courses featured in the RM688 package are Joy I’s newly added Salmon YuSheng, Hot and Cold four combo, braised shark fin jin qian with crab meat, braised pork trotters, sweet and sour grouper fish, roasted chicken, twin flavour kalian, and seafood fried emperor noodles.

To note, Joy I’s Salmon Yusheng with orange sauce is a newly added item to its menu, and is a dish that is not very popular within Sarawak but is a common symbol of prosperity within Chinese communities in the peninsula.

For customers who have already made arrangements for their reunion dinners but would like to sample this dish, it is available a la carte for RM68; however customers must pre-order a la carte dishes three days in advance due to heavy demand.

Additionally, its ‘braised shark fin jin qian’ is rather different from traditional shark fin soups due to the cut of the fin. It utilises ‘shark fin jin qian’ which is a medallion cut of shark fin rather than the traditionally used shredded shark fin, the different cut requires it to be braised instead which creates a flavour that deviates from the traditional shark fin soup.

Customers who would like to sample this dish can try its single serve portion which will be going on promotion on January 1, 2017, being sold at RM18 instead of the normal price of RM29.

Joy I’s menu for its reunion dinners were handcrafted by its new head chef, To Tung Wa, who hails from Hong Kong with 35 years of experience within the culinary industry under his belt.

To has worked in a variety of different countries and cities such as Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Singapore, and Kuala Lumpur. His most notable experience was his time with the world famous Ah Yat Abalone, a chain of restaurants specialising in deluxe gourmet Chinese cuisine and seafood.

Utilising his varied and extensive experience around Asia, To shared that the reunion dinner menus are reflective influences from all over Asia, bringing a new and unique culinary experience to Kuchingnites this Chinese New year season.
