Celcom customer base, 74 per cent dominated by prepaid users

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Celcom Axiata Bhd’s current customer base is 74 per cent dominated by prepaid users and the percentage is expected to grow, says chief marketing officer Zalman Aefendy Zainal Abidin.

He said as of Sept 30, 2016, Celcom had 8.28 million prepaid users out of a total customer base of 11.15 million.

“We expect our prepaid customer base to grow as well as our market share,” he said after launching the new improved prepaid SIM starter pack for Xpax here yesterday.

Celcom reported in November that Celcom’s total customer in the second quarter stood at 11.23 million while in the third quarter ending Sept 30, 2015 the customer base was higher at 12.51 million.

On the new Xpax starter kit, Zalman said it would cost RM10, inclusive of free basic data for Internet and Facebook users.

The latest campaign, named †˜ # nokelentong†™ , is aimed at reducing complexity and offering four affordable Internet plans with no quota splits.

“The new SIM Starter pack now offers 10GB of free basic Internet and free 10 gigabytes for Facebook usage.

“As long as prepaid customers have an active number, they will be able to continue to receive free basic 10GB Internet and 10 gigabytes data size for Facebook use.

The new starter pack consists of a RM3 reload plan for 1GB ( daily), RM10 for 2GB ( weekly) and two monthly plans – RM30 for 5GB and RM50 for 10GB.

“Celcom understands the issues that prepaid customers face, hence the new starter kit, supported by 4G network, which will further enhance and simplify their Internet experience,” he added. — Bernama
