Adenan presents RM100,000 to welfare, charitable bodies

KUCHING: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem yesterday presented a total of RM100,000 to 10 welfare and charitable bodies through Yayasan Sarawak.

The organisati­ons are Pibakat, Pusat Aktiviti Warga Emas (Pawe) Kuching and Kota Samarahan, Sarawak Heart Foundation, Kidney Associatio­n of Sarawak, Sarawak Society for the Blind, Sarawak Chi ldren’s Cancer Society, Persatuan Kebajikan Harapan Kuching, Malaysian AIDS Foundation, Sabati and The Carnation Club.

The presentati­on was held at Yayasan Sarawak Hall along Jalan Sultan Tengah here in conjunctio­n with Christmas at a gathering attended by Adena n’s wife D at in Patinggi Datuk Amar Jamilah Anu and Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang, who is the wife of Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg.

The money was raised by the Chief Minister and his wife when the couple sang for charity during several public functions in the past, which so far had raised more than RM6 million.

At the gathering, Jamilah presented donat ions to 52 chi ldren from the Salvation Army, while Yayasan Sarawak presented Christmas donations to 32 of its staff who celebrate Christmas.

Signing of a memorandum of understand­ing ( MoU) between Petronesa Trading Sdn Bhd and Petron Oil ( M) Sdn Bhd was also held during the gathering.

Petronesa Trading Sdn Bhd is a subsidiary of Yayasan Sarawak, and the MoU will enable Yayasan Sarawak to supply petrol and diesel to Petron Oil (M) Sdn Bhd.

The highlight of the gathering was the cutting of a roast turkey by Adenan and his wife together with Juma’ani and Yayasan Sarawak director Azmi Bujang and other invited guests.

Meanwhile, Azmi said apart from Christmas, Yayasan Sarawak also celebrates other occasions like Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Chinese New Year with its staff members and friends.
