MIRI: The Women Entrepreneurs and Professionals Association Sarawak ( WEPS)’s focus for next year would be on training and equipping members with various skills and knowledge to further empower them.

WEPS president Lili Puk said among the planned projects for members would be workshops on fi nance, sessions on labour laws and employment as well as those on business opportunities.

“Our goal is to consolidate members’ ability to enhance their capabilities in business or their professions which subsequently, would allow them to share their skills and knowledge with their respective communities.

“We also want to make full use of the RM8,000 in government grant pledged by Piasau assemblyman Datuk Sebastian Ting,” she told The Borneo Post at the WEPS 20th anniversary dinner here recently.

Puk said another focus would be its recruitment drive.

“Currently, our membership number is still rather small, at 50. With more members, we could make more impact and be a force to be reckoned with in businessrelated establishments like the chambers of commerce.

“I note that there is no woman on the executive committee of the Miri Chinese or Bumiputera Chamber of Commerce and Industry. One of WEPS goals is to represent women at various government departments and agencies, as well as corporate
