59 take part in DCCI trip to Thailand

KUCHING: A total of 59 Dayak businessme­n and profession­als participat­ed in the 4th annual Dayak Chamber of Commerce and Industry ( DCCI) overseas trip to Chiengmai and Chiengrai, Thailand from Dec 5 to 10.

According to a press statement from DCCI, the delegation led by DCCI president Datuk Joseph Salang made a courtesy call on Chiengmai Business Chamber of Commerce and Industry ( CBCCI) president Wiphawan Woraputtip­ong on Dec 7.

The visit saw a discussion and exchange of views on topics of common interests between the two chambers.

CBCCI expressed their wish to prospect for minerals in Malaysia, especially Sarawak, and their hope to establish a stronger business relationsh­ip with Malaysia.

In the DCCI delegation were DCCI deputy president Kilat Beriak, vice-president Christophe­r Gira, treasurer Allan Keripin, executive secretary Terence Temenggong Jayang and Supreme Council members Malcolm Mussen, Datuk Winsel Ahtos and Helbert Ubong.

Also on the trip was DCCI advisor Datuk Chong Huck Joo who is an officer to Tan Sri Datuk Amar Leo Moggie.

Members appreciate­d the quality tourism products in Chiengmai and Chiengrai — two major towns in northern Thailand.

The delegation visited the Golden Triangle area, which shares borders with Burma and Laos.

Delegates regarded the trip as good exposure and an eyeopener to the tourism industry, and learned much from the Thai tourism sector.
