Soldiers reminded to discharge their duty profession­ally

SIBU: Personnel of the 31st Infantry Brigade Border Regiment were yesterday told to discharge their duty profession­ally to maintain the image of the army as a highly respected organisati­on.

Army Chief General Datuk Seri Zulkiple Kassim, who gave the advice, reminded that without their commitment and cooperatio­n, the Malaysian Armed Forces would fail to live up to its good name.

He was speaking at a passingout parade of new recruits of the Border Regiment under its 181-1/16 training series at the 3rd Royal Rangers Regiment Camp at Mile 14 Oya Road here.

He stressed on the importance of having a sense of belonging, being dedicated and committed to what they are doing.

He exhorted them to continue to learn and acquire knowledge as a way to climb up the ladder of success.

“You all need to love the army organisati­on with all your heart as you are part of this big family.

“We’re focusing on the transforma­tion of our precious human capital in terms of our thinking, action, knowledge, skills, leadership, spiritual and team spirit,” he said.

A total of 498 recruits under the 181-1/16 series commenced their training on June 8 at Junaco Park National Service Training Camp.

Army Deputy Chief Lt General Datuk Seri Panglima Ahmad Hasbullah Mohd Nawawi, Eastern Field Army commander Lt Gen Datuk Mohd Zaki Mokhtar, 31st Infantry Brigade commander Brigadier General Jamaluddin Jambi and Junaco Park National Service Training Programme coordinato­r Khiu Siong Hii were present.
