Kabong rep wants to achieve many things for his constituency
MIRI: Kabong assemblyman Mohd Chee Kadir has a long list of things he wants done.
The former policeman, magistrate, lawyer and deputy mayor of Miri knew it would be no walk in the park to be an elected representative.
“So far, so good but there is much to be done for Kabong,” he told The Borneo Post when met here yesterday.
He listed basic infrastructure and public amenities as top priority and said he would be knocking on the doors of government departments and agencies to get things done in his rural constituency.
“We are fortunate that our Chief Minister ( Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem) is placing emphasis on rural transformation programme ( RTP) and my constituents are benefitting from the RTP projects,” he said.
A son of a fisherman, the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu ( PBB) man said he was aware that his constituency needed development projects like basic infrastructure and amenities, including community halls, repair and upgrading of rundown schools, upgrading of roads and electricity supply.
Besides that, he said he shared with his constituents, who are mostly fishermen and farmers, the need to embrace change in order to move forward.
“I have advised our local area fishermen association to venture into deep sea fishing instead of confining to the coastal waters where the catch is meagre compared to deep sea,” he said.
Mohd Chee hoped to see his alma mater SK Abang Lemang preserved as a heritage building.
He wants the school moved to a new site in conjunction with its 100th anniversary in 2019.
