Attend Intensive English Programme for a language headstart

-

MIRI: Curtin University, Sarawak Malaysia ( Curtin Sarawak) is offering a 10-week Intensive English Programme ( IEP) commencing Jan 9 for those interested to get a language headstart next year.

The 20-hour a week programme from Monday to Friday covers skills in listening, reading, writing, speaking and grammar.

The programme aims to enable students to meet the requirements for entering university, improve employment opportunities, or to help those contemplating international travel.

The declining standards of English nationwide have been a cause for concern all around as students who perform poorly in the subject go on to become employees who communicate badly.

Subsequently, many employers are desperately searching for staff competent in the English language. The highlight of the IEP is an interactive class where students can get immersed in the dynamic intricacies of the English language.

They would have the opportunities to practise these skills through teaching and learning activities within and outside the classrooms, according to Curtin Sarawak’s IEP lecturer David Patenaude.

Those interested to sit for a free placement test can call + 6085- 443 321 or email wilhelmina.j@ curtin. edu.my. They can also visit Curtin Sarawak’s Department of Culture and Language Studies webpage at http:// humanities.curtin. edu. my/departments/cultureand-language- studies/intensiveenglish-programme/.

Deadline for registration is Jan 6.
