Rotary charity run set for Feb 26

KUCHING: Rotary Club of Kuching Central ( RCKC) is organising a Charity Run on Feb 26 next year to raise funds to supplement their numerous community projects to be undertaken in 2017.

In line with its objective of “Doing Good in the World,’ RCKC have been carrying out projects for the less fortunate and targeted youth developmen­t programmes over the past 30 years.

One current project is the provision of solar lighting system for rural longhouses and communitie­s in Kanowit and Bintulu areas.

RC KC a l s o w o r k s in collaborat­ion with the Ministry of Health’s Ophthalmol­ogy Department to conduct cataract remedy/operations for lowerincom­e groups in the rural areas.

Another maj or ongoing programme provides school kits for selected students from poor families in both urban and rural communitie­s.

Registrati­on fees for the charity run are RM50 for 2 and 5km categories and RM80 for 8km.

Every participan­t will receive one piece of a uniquely designed dry fit ‘ Ultron’ T- shirt upon signing up and a beautifull­y designed finisher medal upon completion of the Run.

AXA Affin General Insurance Bhd has already shown its support with 100 participan­ts confirmed for the Run.

Kuching branch manager David Ngui presented the forms to event organising chief Leonard Sia on Dec 14.

Last weekend, roadshow counters were set up at CityONE Megamal l for on- the- spot registrati­on.

The event has also received sponsorshi­ps from Kenbest, Ultron, Kimgress, Ayam Brand and Vico.

RCKC is continuing to seek sponsorshi­p from companies, organisati­ons or individual­s for the event.
