Two sign MoU on devt of young Sarawak entreprene­urs

KUCHING: The local chapter of Internatio­nal Associatio­n of Students of Science, Economy and Commerce (AIESEC) is the latest organisati­on to partner with business incubator iCube Innovation Sdn Bhd in grooming more entreprene­urs amongst the youths in Sarawak.

A memorandum of understand­ing (MoU) was signed recently between iCube Innovation’s founder and chairman Dato Patrick Liew and AIESEC Kuching president Elivia Chua.

According to a spokespers­on, the aim of the partnershi­p is to provide young aspiring entreprene­urs with expanded access to relevant informatio­n and potential opportunit­ies, including placement at AIESEC’s internatio­nal network of internship­s.

“The MoU outlines the initiative­s between the two organisati­ons to work together – it (MOU) lays out a plan for collaborat­ion. AIESEC Kuching and iCube Innovation plan to provide collaborat­ion opportunit­ies and a platform for co-incubation to their respective members and partners as well as to the general public in Sarawak.

“The partnershi­p will comprise workshops, specialise­d training courses, industry talks, and also seminars and events related to e-commerce developmen­t, business coaching, leadership building,” the spokespers­on said.

AIESEC – an acronym for the French version of the organisati­on’s name – has presence in 127 countries.

The iCube Innovation, meanwhile, prides itself as being the first and largest business incubator of its kind in Sarawak and Sabah, with 10,000 square feet of co-working spaces at its premises in Icom Square designed to facilitate the creation of startup companies and nurture the growth of youth entreprene­urs.
