Visitors get all excited to see ‘snow’ falling from the tallest of all Christmas trees at Sibu Town Square – the venue of the town’s annual ‘Christmas Wonderland’. The event, run by Sibu Municipal Council, is a bit different this year in that the organiser strives to create that ‘White Christmas’ feel by showering down styrofoam akes from that tree. SIBU: Sibu Municipal Council has come up with an innovative idea to celebrate Christmas this year by creating a Christmas Winter Wonderland in a tropical setting.

They have been creating the annual Christmas Wonderland for several years with giant Christmas trees, but on Friday evening, ‘snow’ started falling in Sibu town square amidst a sea of giant Christmas trees.

The ‘snow’ started falling at 8pm to the amazement to the children, who frolicked in the flakes.

A SMC officer confirmed yesterday that they created the scene of the Winter Christmas Wonderland to spice up the celebration.

“We engaged a designer to create the innovative idea. We created this festive fun and a magical Christmas scene to boost the festive holiday and to amuse the children.”

The designers had styrofoam dropped from atop the tree.

What is amazing in this harmony of festive fun was that the children and adults alike of different races revelled in it as they took photographs in the Christmas Winter Wonderland with locked arms.

The only thing they could not create was Frosty The Snowman.

A parent was heard saying: “Tis the season of peace, joy and love we are sharing.”
