BINTULU: Police have arrested two men in connection with two robbery cases targetting a 24- hour convenience store here yesterday.

Police chief Supt Zailanni Amit said the first suspect, 22, confessed to the robbery.

The second suspect, the suspect’s friend, was the cashier of the convenience store. Two other accomplices are still at large.

The first suspect was arrested about midnight Monday at his house in PPR Bandaria Park.

The police seized a penknife, a wallet and RM27 cash from him.

Following the arrest, he led the police to his accomplice, 18, the cashier of the convenience store, at his house in Sg Plan flat around 12.40am of the same day.

The robbery happened around 3.30am on Dec 24 when two men came to the convenience store and approached the cashier (second suspect).

One of the men waited outside the store while another man entered to buy chewing gum.

When he was about to pay for the gum at the counter, he took out a knife and ordered the cashier to hand over all the money in the teller machine ( RM400) and fled the scene.

The same convenience store was robbed again around 1.30am on Dec 26 by a man using the same modus operandi.

He fled with RM150 cash taken from the same cashier who later lodged a police report.

Zailanni said the case was being investigated under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code, and believed the group had a link with robbery cases reported in the past three days involving convenience stores.
