NGO marks new year with first city donation

-

KUCHING: Hope Place, a nongovernmental organisation ( NGO) serving the poor and the less- fortunate, received its first donation for 2017 yesterday.

In a press statement from Hope Place founder Kelvin Wan, a group of kind donors from Kuching gave a donation of 60 packs of milk powder costing more than RM1,200 to the organisation to mark the first day of the new year.

“Even though today (yesterday) is a holiday and a new year. This group has a kind heart to donate to Hope Place after knowing of our charitable work through the local media,” said Wan.

He also revealed that Hope Place was short of ‘Ensure’ and ‘Enercal’ milk powders; and children’s XXL-sized pampers for those with special needs.

On another note, Wan said Hope Place would conduct visits to the needy to contribute essential food items such as rice, cooking oil, sugar, salt, biscuits, and noodles.

“Plenty of these families or individuals barely earn enough to get through the month, hence many are grateful with the assistance of basic necessities delivered to them. For the families with children with special needs, or with elderly or disabled people, we provide milk powder, oat and diapers,” he added.

Hope Place also carries out their aid deliveries once every two months because of the many families on its recipients list.

For more information on how to help, Hope Place can be reached at ( 013- 5672775 or 082- 683378) from 8.30am to noon and 2pm to 5pm, Mondays to Fridays.
