Based on the operatic career of the real-life Florence Foster Jenkins ( Meryl Streep,) who really couldn’t sing but carried on with a musical career nonetheless, attempting to rejuvenate wartime spirits through the power of music, no matter how out- of-tune.

Lion: 4 nominations The true story of Indian-born Saroo Brierley who, as a child, took the wrong train and ended up thousands of miles away from home as the adopted son of an Australian family, and later sets out to track down his mother through online mapping tools. Hacksaw Ridge: 3 nominations
