WITH 22 Golden Globe nomination­s between them, here’s where to fi nd musical comedies “La La Land” and “Florence Foster Jenkins”, as well as affecting dramas “Moonlight” and “Manchester by the Sea”, before or not long after the award ceremony on Jan 8, 2017. La La Land: 7 nomination­s Jazz pianist Sebastian ( Ryan Gosling) and hopeful actress Mia ( Emma Stone) meet in this musical comedy drama, an upbeat tale of personal and profession­al fortunes.

Based on the operatic career of the real-life Florence Foster Jenkins ( Meryl Streep,) who really couldn’t sing but carried on with a musical career nonetheles­s, attempting to rejuvenate wartime spirits through the power of music, no matter how out- of-tune.

Lion: 4 nomination­s The true story of Indian-born Saroo Brierley who, as a child, took the wrong train and ended up thousands of miles away from home as the adopted son of an Australian family, and later sets out to track down his mother through online mapping tools. Also known as “A Long Way Home.”

Demond Doss, labelled a coward by his sergeant and fellow soldiers, refuses to pick up a gun, or let go of his resolve to serve not as an infantryma­n but a combat medic. His conviction­s are put to the test in training and in court, and on one of the deadliest battlefiel­ds in the World War II conflict.
