Timely Kuching Trunk Sale 4 for pre-CNY spruce-up

-

KUCHING: The Kuching Trunk Sale has somehow managed to turn flea markets into a trendy and memorable concept since the fi rst such sale in April 2016 kicked off with 20 cars.

The organisers have since held another two sales, both at Emart Batu Kawa, drawing a total of 50 cars or ‘trunkers’ for Trunk Sale 2 and 55 trunkers for Trunk Sale 3, as well as scores of bargain hunters.

This weekend’s edition which will be held on Jan 7 and 8 at CityOne Megamall, is aptly named ‘Trunk Sale Spring Clean’ as a nod to the upcoming Chinese New Year celebration.

According to organisers, there are 49 trunkers so far. Registration is still open for more sign-ups either online or at the event booth at CityOne Megamall.

According to a spokesperson at the booth, the organisers do each edition of Trunk Sale a little differently.

“This time, we have a few activities lined up, such as an opportunity to upcycle items, and a pay-it-forward programme with one of the participating food trucks ‘NOMS on Street’,” he said.

He also encouraged participants to decorate their trunks because when everyone looks good, the quality of the event improves significantly for all.

A Trunk Sale is a social event centred around people gathering to buy and sell pre- owned items right out of their car trunks.

They will be selling off all manner of pre-loved items such as clothing, household goods, toys and hobby collections, books, magazines, musical instruments and any personal or pre-loved items looking for a new owner.
