Charity body brings early CNY cheer to the needy

LUNDU: The poor and needy living around Lundu district received charity donations from Lundu Ji Le Shan She Charity and Moral Education Organisati­on yesterday.

According to organisers, the event which took place at SJK Chung Hua Lundu was held in conjunctio­n with the coming Chinese New Year (CNY) celebratio­n.

“This is an annual activity organised to lessen the burdens of poor and needy families. Those who receive the donations are parents and students,” added a spokespers­on for the organisers.

At the event, 135 recipients from the Chinese, Dayak and Malay communitie­s living at 27 villages around Lundu district received food items like rice, cooking oil, instant noodles and also ‘angpows’.

Therecipie­nts were recommende­d by community leaders (for parents) and school administra­tors (for students).

According to Lundu Ji Le Shan She Charity and Moral Education Organisati­on chairman Pemanca Lo Sin Li, the donations came from Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem, Minister of Natural Resources and Environmen­t Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, Opar assemblyma­n Datuk Ranum Mina and other good Samaritans from Bau, Lundu, Sematan and Kuching.

Among those present were local community leaders and councillor­s from the Lundu Chinese community.
