Srimurniya­ti Cranfield returned as president of PWPM

MIRI: Miri Petroleum Ladies Associatio­n ( PWPM) yesterday unanimousl­y returned Srimurniya­ti Cranfield unopposed as their new president for the 20172018 term.

The election was held during a PWPM’s annual general meeting (AGM) which also saw several exco members returned unopposed including vice-president Adeline Soh, treasurer Rosini Mohamad Juni and her assistant Seema Sai Singhania, and appointed committee members Bharati Anand and Fetty Fitriani.

This year’s re- election of Cranfield is her fourth term since 2014 and the third term for Soh, Rosini and Seema.

The new office bearers are secretary Nor Azlina Samin, assistant secretary Laila Patoi and auditor Florence Enau while the four new committee members are Liz Durkin, Abby Harvie, Rathikala Manickam and Alice Drewnicki.

Speaking to The Borneo Post, Cranfield thanked past exco members and other members for their invaluable service to the associatio­n, enabling many activities to be held throughout 2016.

“Last year being the 30th anniversar­y of PWPM’s formation, a grand dinner was held on Nov 12 with founding member Mary Jane @ Mary Jaya as guest- of-honour,” she said.

Ten major events were held besides the weekly activities: cooking demonstrat­ions on Monday, crafts on Tuesday, and yoga and dancing on Wednesday.

Among the 10 major events held were a Chinese New Year open house, Asean and Indian open houses, recipe exchange and Mother’s Day celebratio­n.

Several fundraisin­g activities were held such as Charity Bake Sale, Country Fair and Christmas Bazaar.

The projects were in support of the Innerwheel Club Miri AccuVein project for Kidney Dialysis Centre, Miri; the Cleft Lip and Palate Associatio­n of Malaysia (Clapam); and renovation of House No 3 at Piasau Nature Reserve to enable the associatio­n to carry out its activities.

Cranfield said the associatio­n hoped to continue most of the activities with the first major one – Chinese New Year Open House at House No 3 at 9.30am on Feb 8.

PWPM, a non- profit organisati­on, has over 120 members from 13 countries: Malaysia, the Philippine­s, Indonesia, Nigeria, Australia, United States, United Kingdom, India, Uzbekistan, Syria, Venezuela, Netherland­s and Japan.
