Dennis urges youths to make education their top priority
MIRI: Youths should know how important education is at this stage of their life and education must be made their top priority.
“I encourage the youths, no matter where you are, to strive hard in order to achieve good result and complete your study to enable yourself secure a good job and a steady income,” Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau reminded the youths in his speech during the Christmas Cup football competition at Daleh Long Pelutan recently.
“There should not be any excuse not to be well- educated today because the government is giving all opportunities equally to everyone, including those in the rural areas,” he added.
The assemblyman urged youths that have left school or are doing nothing to go to town and enrol in technical college to take up skills training to give them the opportunity to have a good career.
“For those who are still looking for what to do, they can also seek advice from the Agriculture Department for crops they can plant and use to earn a living.

Dennis applauded the youths of Daleh Long Pelutan for organising such event and stressed that sports is the source of recreation besides promoting the spirit of teamwork.
“I am glad the game has brought together youths from various longhouses together competing in a good spirit.
“The game has brought together the youths who are still in school and youths who choose to stay back home in their longhouse,” he said, promising to support the event and have it organised yearly.
The football competition, in its fi fth year and offering RM1,000 in cash prize for the winner, saw 15 teams vying for the top spot.
Six of the teams are from Long Miri, four from Long Pilah, three from Long Tepen and one each from Uma Bawang and Long Lunyim.
