Event organising chairman Calvin Chong said a total of RM21,500 was raised, thanks to the generous support of participants as well as various sponsors.

“This is the fourth year the Rotary Club of Kuching Central has organised this fundraising event. We would also like to thank the management of Riverside Superbowl for their continuous support of the event by sponsoring the venue,” he said in a statement issued by the club yesterday.

During the event, club president Clarence Yong in his welcoming address said that the funds would be used in a number of projects being carried out by the Rotary Club of Kuching Central to serve the community.

“Some of our signature projects so far include providing cataract remedies or operations free of charge to patients, implementing solar or clean water systems, and providing school kits consisting of uniforms, bags, shoes and more for students.

“All of these signature projects are for those in the lower income group or in rural areas of Sarawak,” he said.
