KUCHING: State Secretary Tan Sri Datuk Amar Morshidi Ghani said the late Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem was a leader very concerned and focused on the wellbeing of the people.

To pursue his goals to help the people, the late chief minister had set up three cabinet committees – Economic Transformation, Rural Transformation, and Performance and Service Delivery Transformation – which were about delivering results and getting outcomes, he added.

“We have lost a great leader, a leader who was so committed to the rakyat. I know him very well. I worked with him, I saw him almost every other day. I know his style.

“He was serious but a very kind man. He always ensured things were done.

“He wanted solutions all the time. He is the man who can bring results. He left behind good foundation for us to work on for the future of Sarawak,” he said when met at Adenan’s burial ceremony at Samariang Muslim Cemetery yesterday.

“You know, when he first became CM (Chief Minister), I remember he called every morning, he asked me about the things published in newspapers, about issues here and there, small matters, big matters. It shows his concern.

“Who would ask about the drain somewhere not repaired? He asked me why is this happening. I mean this makes people work harder and he was concerned about the problems of the people. He’s the man we are losing.”

Meanwhile, when asked about when the state government would notify the Election Commission about Adenan’s demise, Morshidi said the matter was not under his purview.

Asked on who will take up the duties of Chief Minister for the time being, he said he could not comment on that.
