Ngajat classes open to public

MIRI: Members of the public here who wish to learn the ‘ Ngajat’, an Iban traditiona­l dance, are invited to join Dayak Associatio­n Miri ( DAM) ngajat classes commencing in March.

According to chairperso­n Jacqueline Selaka Mawar, the classes are open to the public and will be in two different sessions.

For men and boys, classes will be from March 1 to May 31, while for women and girls, classes will be from March 4 to June 4.

“The classes will take place at Ruai Francis Loke of Persatuan Dayak Miri’s building, and are open to the public,” she said. Classes will be held three times a week. For women and girls, the classes will be held every Tuesday from 7.30pm to 9.30pm, every Saturday from 2pm to 5pm and every Sunday from 2pm to 5pm.

For men and boys, the classes will be from 7.30pm to 9.30pm every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

The registrati­on fee for boys and girls aged eight to 12 years old is RM20 for members’ children and RM30 for non-members’ children.

For women and men (13 years old and above), the fee is RM20 for members and RM50 for non-members.

The registrati­on forms are available at DAM’s office (085435467) or upon request by email from the organiser.

Closing date for registrati­on is March 1 at 7.30pm for men and boys, while March 4 at 2pm for women and girls.

The completed forms and fees must be submitted to the organiser at Ruai Francis Loke by the dates mentioned.
