Help keep city clean, Lee urges Mirians

MIRI: People here are urged to keep the city clean to encourage visitors to revisit the city.

Tourism Assistant Minister Datuk Lee Kim Shin said it was important for people to keep the city clean especially at eateries, public toilets, walkway and recreation­al parks as Miri is the northern gateway for the tourists to enter Sarawak.

“Poor cleanlines­s at such places would only tarnish the image of Miri as a resort city,” he told the media while distributi­ng mandarin oranges for the Chinese New Year to traders at the city’s business centre yesterday.

( MCC) efforts in keeping the city clean. He said the people should share the responsibi­lity.

He hoped MCC would give bite to their effort through stricter enforcemen­t. Earlier, Lee led the SUPP team in Miri to visit markets in the city centre to extend CNY greetings and distribute mandarin oranges to members of public, accompanie­d by Piasau Assemblyma­n Datuk Sebastian Ting and Miri Mayor Adam Yii.

The group visited Tamu Muhibbah and Tamu Kedayan followed by the Fish Market and Tua Pek Kong Temple, Central Market, Unity Food Stalls and Persiaran Kabor as the last stop.
