Sports Toto angpow cheer for 100 seniors

SARIKEI: Sports Toto Malaysia Sdn Bhd shared the festive cheer with 100 senior citizens here recently by giving them angpow and mini hampers in conjunctio­n with Chinese New Year ( CNY) celebratio­n.

According to a press statement, they were among the 18,000 needy senior citizens across the country picked to benefit from Sports Toto CNY angpow donation campaign to welcome the Year of the Rooster.

The campaign, which cost the company approximat­ely RM1.2 million, was held in 50 Sports Toto outlets across the country from Jan 19 to 23. It was also their biggest annual charity event and the company had spent more than RM18 million since 1989 to benefit over 330,000 senior citizens.

Additional­ly, the company hopes to instil positive values in society like respecting and caring for elders and more importantl­y, spending time with them especially during the Chinese New Year family reunion.

Apart from this campaign, the company also organised Raya goodwill visits to government hospitals, Deepavali charity donation drive, Christmas cheer with Orang Asli communitie­s as well as Harvest and Gawai cheer for the under privileged in Sabah and Sarawak.

Councillor Janet Lee, representi­ng Sarikei District Council chairlady Wong Zee Yeng, was invited to present the angpow and mini hampers.

Among those present were Sports Toto’s assistant manager (administra­tion) Tee Kim Liang, Sibu Area sales manager Helen Yii and local agents.
