Police investigating former MACC senior officer over corruption allegation
PETALING JAYA: The police are investigating an allegation of corruption against a former senior officer of the Malaysian Anti- Corruption Commission ( MACC), Inspector- General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said yesterday.
He said the probe was based on a police report made in Kelantan last year.
“The outcome of the investigation will be submitted to the Attorney- General’s Chambers,” he said to reporters after launching the ‘Op Selamat 10/2017’ road safety campaign in conjunction with the Chinese New Year at Persada PLUS here.
Khalid was asked to comment on a police report lodged by Noraihan Che Ali, director of the Islamic College of Science and Technology, alleging that the officer had abused his power while in the service of the MACC to gain the family’s inheritance.
Noraihan, at a press conference in Subang Jaya yesterday, alleged that the officer had used his authority to threaten her and her family to sign documents to hand over the property left by her late husband.
“My husband died on Sept 19, 2015, and left an inheritance to the value of RM100 million and debts to the tune of RM85 million. The huge inheritance led to a struggle for property among the family members,” she said.
Noraihan said the officer and his wife claimed that there was another will and he asked her to sign a letter of rejection of the property left by her husband.
Noraihan claimed that following her refusal to sign the document, a special MACC team ransacked her house and seized relevant documents and titles related to the college.— Bernama
