Rain and Kim Tae-hee marry in private ceremony

-

SEOUL: Singer Rain and actress Kim Tae-hee were wed in a Seoul cathedral in a ceremony that was not open to newsmen.

But it had been disclosed that during the 90-minute ceremony, Rain wore a black suit while the bride wore a white dress.

Only family members and a few close friends, including Park Jin-young, the head of JYP Entertainment and Rain‘s former boss, attended the Mass. In celebration of the new couple, Park sang Only You, the song he had written in dedication to his own wife.

Other guests included Rain’s godfather Ahn Sung-ki, Psy, Park Joon-hyung of K-pop group g.o.d. and Kim‘s university classmate Lee Honey.

Preparation for the highprofile wedding was carried out secretly, with the guests notified of the place and time only on the day of the wedding. The venue was guarded by private security guards hours before the ceremony, blocking a group of reporters from getting a glimpse of the superstar couple.

Rain and Kim started dating in the autumn of 2012, with newsmen getting to know about it only in January 2013. The couple has reportedly been preparing to exchange nuptials since their respective families had met in November.

Rain’s latest single Best Present had fuelled rumours of his imminent marriage to Kim, given the singer himself had written the lyrics depicting a young man confessing his love.

In a handwritten letter to fans on Tuesday, Rain had said that their wedding would be low-key given the country’s economic and political woes.

“I am going to be a good husband and man as a head of a family,” Rain said in the letter, posted on his Instagram feed.

“She has always been by my side through the hard times and the good times”.

The couple will release their wedding photos along with a public announcement after the wedding, Rain‘s agency said on Thursday.

It added that the newlyweds would not leave for a honeymoon immediately.

I am going to be a good husband and man as a head of a family. She has always been by my side through the hard times and the good times. Rain, in a letter posted on Instagram
