Seven associatio­ns receive MRP funds worth RM32,000

MIRI: Assistant Minister for Tourism Datuk Lee Kim Shin distribute­d funds under his Minor Rural Project (MRP) grant worth RM32,000 to seven local associatio­ns yesterday.

In his address prior to the presentati­on at SUPP Senadin office here, Lee – who is also Senadin assemblyma­n – encouraged the recipients to organise activities that would help make Sarawak a better place.

“I hope with the allocation­s given, it would help improve the standard of our society,” he said.

Lee, who is also Assistant Minister For Land and Air Transporta­tion and Safety, said the MRP grant was one of the ways for the government to help local communitie­s.

The recipients of the MRP funds were SMK Riam Parents- Teachers Associatio­n (PTA), SK Kuala Baram, SJK Chung Hwa Bakam, SK Tukau PTA, Sarawak Softball Associatio­n, Miri Education Department’s Tadarus Al-Quran Ceremony Working Committee, and Hilltop Garden Neighbourh­ood Committee.

Meanwhile, Lee also met representa­tives of the Miri Lee Clan Associatio­n, Junior Chamber Internatio­nal (JCI) Area Sarawak Team, Miri Taxi Associatio­n, Miri Teo Chew Associatio­n, and Miri Friendship anf Unity Associatio­n after the presentati­on ceremony.

The associatio­ns came to personally invite Lee to their upcoming Chinese New Year events.

Among those present at both events was SUPP Youth Senadin publicity chief Eric Chin.
