-

KUCHING: Staff of Asteel Group – a member of YKGI Holdings Bhd – visited the Salvation Army Kuching Children’s Home to spread Chinese New Year joy as part of their annually corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative.

Its managing director Victor Hii Lu Thian said the company is committed in reaching out to the community in many more years to come as it has been a tradition to give back to society.

“And it is like a built-in responsibility in the Hii family, a practice initiated by his grandfather the founder of YKGI, ” he said after presenting the donation in the form of 62 food packets, a music drum set and ang pow to the home’s residents here yesterday.

Apart from this CSR initiative carried out on an annual basis locally, YKGI also conducts similar initiative at international level, whereby an organisation in Indonesia that cares to 600 orphans has also benefited from YKGI assistance for the past 15 years.

“As the company expands, the culture remains the same in the Hii generation which is to continue the practice in giving back to society through CSR.

He added that the Salvation Army event was jointly organised by the Kho Clan Association and Tsin Siang Construction Sdn Bhd; whereby the three entities having the same surname ‘ Hii’, merged for a good cause in which it gathers more funds for the benefit of residents here.

Also present were Kho Clan Association youth group leader Desmond Kho and Salvation Army Kuching Children’s Home Superintendent Major T Chelvee.
