Nancy Wu renewed lease to ‘remain close’ to Ruco Chan
HONG KONG: Despite a hefty hike in rental for her apartment, actress Nancy Wu had renewed the lease.
Tabloids are reporting that she had done so to remain close to her supposed boyfriend, actor Ruco Chan.
Nancy had renewed the oneyear lease in the The Wings II residential complex in Tseung Kwan O.
Two years ago, she moved in on a monthly rent of HK$ 33,000. According to a real estate agent who handles deals in that complex, despite the hike in rental, Nancy insisted on staying on.
Said the unnamed agent: “The landlord of the property did not expect Nancy to renew her lease. The rent was raised to HK$ 38,000 ( RM22,400) a month and she had signed another fixed-term tenancy for another year.”
According to the tabloid reports, Nancy had made the choice because Ruco lives in the Ocean Shores residential complex less than ten minutes away.
Showbiz insiders are saying that Nancy’s decision is puzzling because she had bought a HK$ 7 million apartment in Tuen Mun’s Aqua Blue complex back in 2014. So it does seem puzzling that she would spend HK$ 450,000 on the rented apartment over the next year.
Ruco and Nancy is currently Hong Kong’s hottest showbiz couple. They had been catapulted to fame as an on-screen couple in the hit TVB series A Fist Within Four Walls.
That stint led to a number of awards for both acting and singing.
They currently star together in the series The Unholy Alliance.
During a recent celebratory dinner for the series, some cast members joked that Ruco and Nancy looked very cosy together, and the dinner was more like a “wedding banquet”.
Ruco left the party with several crew members. Five minutes later, Nancy left with co- star Elaine Yiu.
But newsmen insisted that the arrangement was intended to silence the rumours about their supposed romance.
