BN ready for Tanjong Datu by-election — Wan Junaidi

-

The Barisan Nasional ( BN)’s director of operations for Tanjong Datu by- election, Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, will ensure that the election machinery for the election is at its best to deliver.

He said the election machinery was well prepared despite Parti Keadilan Rakyat ( PKR) declaring its intention to not contest in the by- election, scheduled for Feb 18.

“The election machinery is well prepared now, raring to go and waiting for the nomination day on Feb 4 and this is despite PKR having declared its intention not to contest,” Wan Junaidi, who is Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, said yesterday when contacted.

State DAP chairman Chong Chieng Jen was quoted yesterday as saying that the party would not put up any candidate to contest the seat, which became vacant after the demise of the incumbent and fifth chief minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem on Jan 11.

Wan Junaidi reiterated that whether PKR or any other opposition parties would contest or not, it would not affect the preparation, adding that PBB would be assisted by other BN component parties.

The Santubong MP also said PBB Tanjong Datu branch committee members would convene a meeting tomorrow before meeting Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg in the evening. He also said the candidate would be announced tomorrow and assured that the candidate would get strong support from PBB.
