KUCHING: Communities around Tupong area here have been advised to be always concerned about their neighbours as it is the culture inculcated by their elders.

In giving the reminder, Tupong assemblyman Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman said living in a community meant everyone should look after each other, and it was a culture that needed to be sustained by the younger generation.

“With various influences coming to our shores, it is equally important for us to understand the values of living as a community and being responsible to one another,” said Fazzrudin.

Fazzrudin pointed that it was the duty of everyone to inform the authorities if they saw anything that might potentially lead to crime, and to be aware of their neighbourhood surroundings.

“Do inform the authorities if you see any suspicious individuals aroundyourareaandworktogether for a safer neighbourhood,” he said.

Meanwhile, Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu ( PBB) Taman Palma Indah branch chief Harun Majid in his speech urged the authorities, particularly the police to intensify their patrol in the area.

“We feel that more patrol is needed in this area, especially during night time to help combat crime or possibilities of burglaries.
