Fadillah hopes no contest in Tanjong Datu by-election

-

KUCHING: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu ( PBB) Youth chief Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof hopes to see no contest in the by- election for Tanjong Datu state seat, which became vacant after the demise of its incumbent Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem, the fifth Chief Minister, on Jan 11 this year.

The Works Minister said the no-contest would be a mark of respect to the late chief minister, who had made great contributions to the constituency, the state and the nation.

“The opposition should not send any of their candidates to contest in the constituency and let the seat be won by BN without any contest.

“If there is a contest we are ever ready,” he added when met by reporters at the project site of Datuk Temenggong Abang Kipali Abang Akip roundabout in Petra Jaya here yesterday.

He expressed confidence that BN through PBB would win the byelection.

“Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu is always ever ready not only for elections but we work hard for the people.

“Election or no election is just normal for us and we are preparing to move our machinery anytime,” he said.

Meanwhile, opposition parties in the state had stated that they were not likely to contest at the by election.

PBB will name its candidate for the byelection today.
