Serasi 2016/ 2017 offering prizes totalling RM22,000

KUCHING: The ‘Anugerah Sekolah Rakan Alam Sekitar’ ( Serasi) 2016/2017 is offering cash prizes totalling RM22,000.

There will be seven categories – Serasi Star Award, Overall Serasi winner, Best Environmen­tal Management, Best Environmen­tal Awareness Efforts, Best School Greening, Best Clean and Beautiful School Grounds, and Best Serasi Teacher Award.

Only schools that have won the overall Serasi award are only entitled to contest in the Serasi Star Award.

This year, the Serasi Star Award winner will receive RM5,000, while the winner of the overall Serasi award will receive RM4,000.

Winners of four other categories will receive RM3,000 each, while the winner of the Best Serasi Teacher Award will receive RM1,000.

The closing date to enter is April 13.

The award is jointly organised by the Ministry of Resource Planning and Environmen­t, Shell Malaysia, Natural Resources and Environmen­t Board ( NREB) and other related agencies with the cooperatio­n of the state Education Department.

Objectives of the award include to acknowledg­e and appreciate the continuous effort undertaken by schools in protecting and preserving the environmen­t in line with the aspiration to inculcate a positive attitude among the youth to have a better understand­ing on the importance of looking after the environmen­t.
