KUCHING: Three police reports were lodged against a Facebook user by the name of Zulfae Iskandar for posting statements which were purportedly cowritten by members of the Malaysian Youth Parliament.

Sarawak CID chief SAC Datuk Dev Kumar said two of the police reports were lodged in Kuching while one was lodged in Bintulu.

“We are investigating under Section 500 of the Penal Code and 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act,” Dev Kumar told The Borneo Post on Monday.

In his posting, Zulfaee stated that Sarawakian members of the Malaysian Youth Parliament were unanimously against the appointment of SAC Datuk Dev Kumar as the Sarawak CID chief as it went against the Malaysia Agreement 1963.

I wish to categorically deny that I have ever made or condone such statement and in such manner including those on all other issues raised therein, and consider it as an unscrupulous attempt to smear my good name and my fellow Parliament Belia counterparts. Among other derogatory statements, the posting mentioned that Sarawakians had lost faith in the Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar as the nation’s top cop.

Meanwhile, one of the Malaysian Youth Parliament members from Sarawak, Mieza Nawawi, whose name was included in the statement’s by-line defended her counterparts by labelling the posting as an unforgivable blasphemy.

“I wish to categorically deny that I have ever made or condone such statement and in such manner including those on all other issues raised therein, and consider it as an unscrupulous attempt to smear my good name and my fellow Parliament Belia counterparts,” said Mieza in her posting.

Other names which were included in the by-line were Hanafi Mosbi, Wan Daniel Sameon, Myra Liyana, Qaisy Jaslenda, Meor Danish, Emelda Lai, Musz Suhaili, Sarawak Voice, Sarawak for Sarawakians, 1Sarawak-Unity in Diversity and Parliament Belia Sarawak.
