DBKU to host ‘Majlis Agenda DBKU’ at Jalan Depo Feb 3-5

KUCHING: Kuching North City Commission ( DBKU) will be hosting their annual ‘ Majlis Agenda DBKU 2017’ at their office in Jalan Depo here from Feb 3 to 5.

In a press statement from DBKU, the programme is expected to be graced by Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg as the guest- of-honour on Feb 5 at 9am.

The objective of the programme is to strengthen the relationsh­ip of Kuchingite­s in line to this year’s agenda of ‘Memperkasa­kan KomunitiKU’ -loosely translated as ‘strenghten­ing my community’.

Among the activities linedup for the programme include an exhibition by government agencies, private companies and non-government­al organisati­ons; quizzes; commercial expo; sports and recreation and the DBKU Town Hall Session.

To accommodat­e the activities, Lorong Cenderawas­ih in Jalan Depo will be turned into a one way street from Feb 3 to 5 and it will be closed to traffic on Feb 5 from 8am to 1pm.

In an unrelated event, DBKU together with the The Federation of Chinese Associatio­ns of Kuching, Samarahan and Serian Division, Kuching Chinese Chamber, Plaza Merdeka and the Waterfront Hotel will be jointly holding a Chap Goh Mei festival on Feb 11 at 8pm.

The event, which will be held at Kuching Esplanade, Jalan Gambier is to mark the last day of the Chinese New Year celebratio­n.

Among the activities scheduled for the night include a lion dance performanc­e, wushu performanc­e, fireworks display and tossing of mandarin oranges into the Sarawak River.
