Govt committed to helping rural folk — Dr Rundi
BINTULU: The state government is committed to improving the socio- economy of the rural communities through various development programmes and initiatives.
The government helps the people by providing basic infrastructure and if you have any application the Village Security and Development Committee (JKKK) must come up with a valid proposal. Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi, Minister of Public Utilities
Minister of Public Utilities Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi, in saying this, said one of the initiatives was the presentation of minor rural project ( MRP) grants to selected groups.
He said the people in rural areas must be able to utilise their natural resources, for example their lands, for agricultural activities.
“The government helps the people by providing basic infrastructure and if you have any application the Village Security and Development Committee (JKKK) must come up with a valid proposal,” he said when presenting MRP grants amounting RM120,640 to several JKKKs and nongovernmental organisations under his Kemena constituency at the Resident’s Office here yesterday.
Other initiatives, he added, included the Rural Transformation Project ( RTP) to accelerate rural development, which many groups from his constituency had benefited.
“Please, use the grant accordingly to complete your projects and when they are completed a follow-up report must be made.
“If there is any balance, the JKKKs must keep it in their educational fund because education is important for the children,” he said.
