Saberkas a great platform to groom youths into leaders, says Samaring branch chief

KUCHING: Members of Sarawak United National Youths Organisati­on ( Saberkas) are encouraged to be fully involved in activities run by the organisati­on to enhance their leadership skills.

Assistant Minister for Early Childhood Education and Family Developmen­t Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali said this during the Saberkas Samariang annual general meeting (AGM) and dinner here on Monday, where the branch introduced its line-up for the 2017-2020 term.

“With this appointmen­t, I hope it would open the door to and become a platform for the youths in Samariang to enhance their leadership skills. I also hope that this would uphold the spirit of unity among members when it comes to executing programmes for the developmen­t and wellbeing of the youths here.

“I am also thankful that there are more youths in every unit under Saberkas Samariang,” she said, adding that only four members are above the age of 45.

Adding on, Sharifah Hasidah – also Samariang assemblywo­man – hoped that the new executive committee of the branch would continue unearthing new talents in leadership, as well as great ideas towards implementi­ng new programmes, improving existing ones and also empowering youths in her constituen­cy.

“This is so that they could become good leadership examples to the next generation.

The Saberkas Samariang is headed by Sharifah Hasidah as its chief, assisted by vicechairm­en Sulhie Salleh and Zainal Dollah. The branch’s secretary is Sharifah Roziah Wan Razali, while the treasurer is Sharifah Noraini Sayeed Aman Ghazali.
