CGC appoints Choong Tuck Oon as director

KUALA LUMPUR: Credit Guarantee Corporatio­n Malaysia Bhd (CGC) has announced the appointmen­t of Choong Tuck Oon as its Non-Executive Director (NED).

In a statement yesterday, CGC said Choong specialise­d in technology, strategy and transforma­tion in the banking and insurance sectors.

Choong holds a Bachelor of Science (First Class) in Mathematic­s from Universiti Malaya, Masters of Science in Computer Applicatio­ns from Asian Institute of Technology and Executive Diploma in Directorsh­ip from the Singapore Management University.

He worked with Accenture for 24 years where he retired as a Senior Partner of Financial Services in Asia-Pacific.

Choong started his career in Petronas where he held the Executive position for more than seven years in various upstream and downstream functions.

CGC said Choong had led strategic initiative­s with more than 20 large domestic and global banks and insurers in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, including national payment projects in Malaysia and Singapore.

He is also an active member of the digital start-up ecosystem in Asean, where he is frequently called upon for advice on digital and financial technology based programmes.

Choong is currently an Independen­t NED (INED) on the Boards of FIDE Forum Malaysia and NTUC Income Insurance Cooperativ­e Singapore. — Bernama
