BINTULU: Members of the public are invited to patronise the Bintulu Chinese New Year (CNY) 2017 open house on Feb 4 at Naim Bintulu Paragon’s Piazza.

The open house is jointly organised by the Federation of Registered Chinese Associations ( Forca) Bintulu, Bintulu Development Authority ( BDA) and Naim.

Forca Bintulu president Hii Toh Him hoped people from all walks of life would take this opportunity to celebrate the occasion together with the local community.

At the same time, he also invited the public to attend another CNY open house on Feb 5 at Bintulu Civic Centre which will be hosted by Bintulu MP Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing and Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party.

“Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg is expected to join us at the celebration.

“We also hope the new chief minister will continue supporting the Chinese community, and hopefully there will be more good news for the people in Sarawak,” Hii said.

Meanwhile, BDA assistant general manager (environment section) Wan Ibrahim Wan Ali said this was the second CNY open house collaboration with Forca.

“This year is special as we have found a new partner, Naim, which is sponsoring the venue for the occasion and hopefully the event will get better with every year,” he said.

He added that various heads of departments, private sector bodies, investors, developers and local community leaders have been invited to attend.

BDA would give out some assistance to 40 needy families during the event, he added, explaining that the aim of the event is to share the joy and happiness of the CNY celebration.

In the meantime, Wan Ibrahim said, personnel from Bintulu Health office would be on the ground to take food samples to ensure food safety.

Naim’s senior manager for its Bintulu operations Gerald Sim said they were proud to be given the opportunity to sponsor the venue for the meaningful occasion.

“Let us enjoy this festive event together with BDA and Forca Bintulu,” he said.
