TAIM declares income distributions for two funds

-

KUALA LUMPUR: TA Investment Management Bhd ( TAIM) has declared a gross income distribution of 0.27 sen per unit (quarterly distribution) for TA Asian Dividend Income Fund (TADIF) and two sen for TA Dana OptiMix (TADO) to registered unit holders as at Jan 31, 2017.

In a statement yesterday, TAIM said, 2016 saw mixed performance with the major factor determining the funds’ performances being selection of markets to invest in.

“We expect much of the same this year but the movers and shakers should be very different from 2016.

“So far, Trumponomics has been positive for the US market whereby the Dow Jones Industrial Average has been hitting successive highs since Donald Trump won the US presidential election,” it said.

This renewed optimism in the market stemmed from expected fiscal measures to boost the economy and it would be supported by tremendous amount of liquidity

that was already in the system, said TAIM.

However, it said, the caveat was that interest rates needed to rise to attract fiscal investments.

It said with the US sucking back global liquidity, a more subdued emerging market was expected.

“There would be adjustment period to adapt to the changes in US policies, hence, we would be looking at domestic factors for each of the emerging markets,” it said.

For Malaysia, it said, there appeared to be some silver lining for the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI.

It said the recent recovery in crude oil prices should provide excitement for oversold oil and gas stocks while expectations of the coming general election may fuel election rally.

As such, TAIM would position its portfolios in line with these expectations, it said.

TAIM said although inflation would likely pick up after the price increase in crude oil, the strong US dollar against weak ringgit would unlikely put pressure on Bank Negara Malaysia to raise interest rates to contain it, it said.

TADIF seeks to provide income and long- term capital appreciation by investing in a collective investment scheme which invests mainly in Asian stock portfolios.

TADO seeks to achieve steady capital gains with consistent income over medium-to long-term period by investing in diversified mix of sya r iah- approved instruments. — Bernama
