Rep wants alumni members to help school
KUCHING: Chung Hua Bau Alumni Association members have been asked to help shape the future of the students at their former school.
Tasik Biru assemblyman Datuk Henry Harry Jinep said one of the ways to help was by giving their professional views on how to produce good human capital that could help shape the future of Bau, the state and nation at large.
“I would like to see your alumni association collaborate with school board members and teachers in organising events for the current students of the schools.
“You can help to organise a wide range of events – some social, some knowledge sharing, some educational, and some career opportunities – with them,” he said at the launch of the Chung Hua Bau Alumni Association headquarters in Bau yesterday.
Henry noted that Chung Hua Bau has a good track record of producing students who are successful in their career and businesses.
He said therefore, those who have succeeded must help the school to continue producing students who are intelligent, innovative and effective in their fields.
Henry said the alumni must also help to sustain the school, which had been established about 100 years ago, through donations and volunteerism.
He acknowledged that it costs a lot of money to keep the school on its feet, and therefore the alumni’s contributions could help the school to provide students with newer technology, better facilities and a nicer building, which in turn would keep the school appealing and a nice place to study at.
“Personally, the setting up of your alumni association is very timely and I hope to see you all help the school to continue producing the best brains in Bau,” he said.
