KUCHING: Sarawak United National Youths Organisation (Saberkas) wants the literacy level in Information and Communication Technology ( ICT) among the younger generation be improved.

Its secretary-general Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi said this is in line with organisation’s aspiration to empower the younger generation through access to ICT.

He added that the usage of technology could enhance the economic empowerment of youths who would contribute to the development of the state and country.

He noted that there were members in the Pantai Damai branch who were still lacking in such knowledge, adding that it would be addressed in future programmes.

“We will provide opportunities and exposure for them to learn and gain access to ICT. This will also enable leaders from each unit to have the required skills in ICT,” he said.

Dr Abdul Rahman who is also Pantai Damai assemblyman urged Saberkas members especially those in newly established units in the Pantai Damai constituency to be active in polishing their leadership skills and teamwork.

He advised them to cooperate in organising future programmes in order to produce greater impacts in benefiting the youths.

He noted that Pantai Damai currently has a membership of 5,800 from 23 units, which is the highest membership in the state and called for more vigorous efforts to recruit more members.
