Ministry to enhance rural economic activities

MARUDI: The Ministry of Modernisat­ion of Agricultur­e and Rural Economy is working to enhance socioecono­mic activities in rural areas such as Long Lapok.

Penguang acknowledg­ed that Long Lapok is still lacking in treated clean water supply and electricit­y.

“I urge that the Chinese community here be patient and give me a chance to serve you better. I can’t promise miracles, but I will do my very best to ensure that the basic infrastruc­ture would be available soon,” he said.

More than 100 guests attended Sim’s Chinese New Year gathering.

They included Marudi District Council chairman Edward Mendai and Penghulu Patrick Jeleman.
