Rotaractors donate RM1,000 to SMK St Teresa

-

KUCHING: The Rotaract Club of SEGi College Sarawak managed to raise RM1,000 within a span of three days after setting up a donation booth at their college here.

In a press statement from the club, the achievement was due to the efforts of Rotaractors and also generous contributions by students and staff at SEGi College Sarawak.

The amount collected was then handed over to SMK St Teresa on Jan 24 during a visit by 15 Rotaractors led by Rotaract Club of SEGi College Sarawak president Stephanie Ting. They were accompanied by Rotary District 3310 ( Group 14) assistant governor Leslie Phuan, Rotary Club of Kuching Central president Clarence Yong, Youth Service Chair PP Frankie Yang, Rotarian advisor Roland Phang and president elect Benjamin Lo.

During the visit, the Rotarians and Rotaractors were also briefed by SMK St Teresa’s principal Mary John on issues regarding the welfare and future plans of the school.

Meanwhile, on Oct 29 last year, a fire destroyed SMK St Teresa’s school hall and the building was declared unsafe for use. The school is still in the midst of organising various fund-raising events to repair the building. Contributions and donations from supporters as well as well-wishers are very much welcomed.

Rotaract Clubs bring together people aged between 18 and 30 to exchange ideas with community leaders, develop leadership and professional skills, and have fun through various community services. Rotary and Rotaract members work side by side to take action and are always ready to serve the community.
