Sabati sets off for annual pan-M’sian sports meet

KUCHING: A 40-member team from the Associatio­n of Wives of Ministers and Assistant Ministers of Sarawak ( Sabati) yesterday left for Alor Setar, Kedah for the Pan-Malaysian Barisan Nasional ( BN) Elected Representa­tives’ Wives Annual Programme 2017.

Sabati president Datin Amar Dato Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang, who is the Chief Minister’s wife, was at Kuching Internatio­nal Airport ( KIA) to see the team off.

The women will participat­e in the tenpin bowling and badminton competitio­ns during the four- day annual gathering scheduled to start today.

The sports meet will see participan­ts from all states in Malaysia including the National Cabinet ( Welfare Associatio­n of Wives of Ministers and Deputy Ministers, or Bakti).

The annual gathering is held to foster closer ties and unity among the wives of BN elected representa­tives and in turn strengthen the backbone of the country’s leadership.

Datin Amar Doreen Lee ( Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas’ wife), Datin Enn Ong ( Local Government Minister Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian’s wife), Datin Amar Fatimah Mohd Iskandar ( State Legislativ­e Assembly speaker Datuk Amar Mohd Asfia Awang Nassar’s wife) and Datuk Dayang Morliah Awang Daud ( Second Minister of Resource Planning and Environmen­t Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan’s wife) were among those present.
