500 expected at Yayasan Sarawak programme in Sematan today
KUCHING: Yayasan Sarawak will kick off its annual community programme for this year at Sematan Chung Hua Association Hall today.
The event is scheduled to start at 9am and is expected to draw a crowd of 500 participants including community leaders and Parent-Teacher Association ( PTA) members mostly from the Sematan sub-district.
Invitations were also extended to PTA members from other areas within the Lundu district.
The event is part of Yayasan Sarawak’s outreach programme which aims to disseminate information on education opportunities while publicising the foundation’s role in assisting needy students to realise their educational goals.
The foundation is calling on local communities around Sematan to participate in this programme which is targeted at parents and community leaders as they play crucial roles in promoting education among the younger generation.
A renowned motivational speaker is expected to share with participants on the importance of education and their roles as parents and community leaders in the field of education.
Sematan’s location on the southern tip of Sarawak is a good venue to kick- off this programme which thereafter will progress to other areas.
Priority is given to rural areas where the communities have limited access to information, especially on education matters.
There will be booths set up by local universities, technical colleges and government agencies providing education assistance, throughout the programme.
