Ensure school projects completed according to specs, contractor­s told

SARIKEI: Contractor­s who had been awarded contracts to upgrade or repair facilities in local schools under the Rural Transforma­tion Project ( RTP) were told to implement them accordingl­y.

Repok assemblyma­n Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii gave the reminder when he paid site visits to various schools here on Tuesday.

He hoped the contractor­s would not only complete the projects on schedule but also in accordance with specificat­ions.

Huang who visited five schools to see the progress of their respective RTP projects said that he was glad that three had been completed thus far while two others were progressin­g steadily.

Already completed were upgrading works on SJK San Ming Sare which cost RM65,000; upgrading and repair of infrastruc­ture at SJK Ming Tak, Garan ( RM52,000) and upgrading of facilities at SJK Hua Kee, Sungai Kesa-Baron ( RM40,000).

Huang hoped upgrading works on the school block and installati­on of a new electricit­y meter at SJK Kiew Mang costing RM150,000 as well as the constructi­on of a multi-purpose court at SMK Bandar Sarikei costing RM350,000 which were in progress would be completed within the next three months.

In December last year, Huang handed over a total of 18 RTP projects worth RM2,044,200 to local contractor­s.

He also hoped other projects for SJK Chung Hien costing RM72,200; SJK Minar (RM215,000); SJK Hua Nam ( RM65,000); SJK Su Ming ( RM100,000); SJK Su Kwong ( RM100,000); SJK Su Lok ( RM177,000); SJK Tiong Ho ( RM25,000); SJK Wah Man ( RM100,000); SJK Siung Hua ( RM150,000); SMK Tinggi ( RM120,000); SJK St Martin ( RM30,000) and SM Ming Lik ( RM150,000) would be completed accordingl­y within this year.

Among those who accompanie­d Huang were Sarikei District Council ( SDC) chairwoman Wong Zee Yeng and local Sarawak United Peoples’ Party ( SUPP) leaders.
