PIDM announces new appointments to board
KUCHING: Perbadanan Insurans Deposit Malaysia (PIDM) yesterday announced the appointments of Johan Mahmood Merican and Gloria Goh to its board of directors.
“We are delighted to welcome these highly- esteemed individuals to the PIDM Board. Their extensive professional experiences and expertise in their respective fields will bring insightful perspectives to the Board and we look forward to benefitting from their wise counsel,” PIDM chairman Tan Sri Dr Abdul Samad Alias said.
These new appointments are for a three-year term and are to fill the vacancies created by the retirement of two members of the board, Datuk Seri Dr Rahamat Bivi Yusoff and George Anthony David Dass.
“We would like to thank Rahamat and Dass for their innumerable contributions and steadfast support during their time with PIDM. We wish them the best in their future endeavours,” Abdul Samad added.
Johan is currently the deputy directorgeneral(HumanCapital) of the Economic Planning Unit (EPU), a post he has held since June 2016.
Prior to his current appointment, he was the chief executive officer of Talent Corporation Malaysia Bhd (TalentCorp) from its inception in January 2011, driving publicprivate partnerships to meet Malaysia’s talent needs.
Between 2004 and 2010, he was the Principal Private Secretary to the Minister of Finance and subsequently, in EPU, with a focus on policy development. He has worked in the private sector for nine years in corporate finance and accounting roles at Malaysian Resources Corporation Bhd (MRCB), Sime Darby Bhd (Sime Darby) and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Johan is a trained Chartered Accountant and a member of The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). He holds a degree in Economics from the University of Cambridge, UK.
Meanwhile, Goh is a retired Partner of Ernst & Young, Malaysia and a former Council Member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) and the ASEAN Federation of Accountants.
She is also a past president of the Information Systems Audit & Control Association (ISACA) Malaysia Chapter. She currently sits on the Advisory Board of the Faculty of Business and Economics, University of Melbourne, Australia.
Goh is a member of the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA), a Fellow of Certified Practising Accountant ( CPA) Australia and a member of the MIA. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) from the University of Melbourne, Australia.
